Through teamwork and dedication, the Executive Board members strive to provide our “SHRMies” the best experience by coordinating and executing various events that provide the necessary tools and frameworks needed for our members to grow, develop, and “#ShineWithSHRM“.


Brett is a Senior majoring in Human Resource Management and oversees all operations of the SHRM Aloha Chapter while keeping a positive relationship with the SHRM Hawaii Chapter, SHRM Young Professional group, and other Inter-Business Council organizations. He has been a part of the chapter since Fall 2015 and has been on the Executive Board since Spring 2017. Brett started off as the Director of Corporate Relations and took the role as Executive President the semester after, with this year being his second term as president. He is also a proud graduate of Mililani High School and spends a lot of his free time watching football with his father, and even has goals of becoming a coach after graduation. This summer, he worked as an intern with Hawaii Pacific Health and plans on using the skills learned to help him become a better leader. One of his goals is to encourage all of his members to become “social butterflies” by the time they graduate. He believes that in order to succeed, you must first be able to communicate with others.




Jessica is a Senior at the Shidler College of Business and will be graduating in December 2018 with a BBA in Human Resource Management. She was born in Hawaii but was raised in Guam, and moved back to Hawaii after high school to attend college. She currently works as a Barista at Starbucks, Student Assistant at the Shidler Office for Student Assistant Services, and served as a Business Leader intern this past summer at ProService Hawaii. Jessica joined the Aloha Chapter in Spring 2017, joined the Executive Board and served as the Director of Finance from Fall 2017 to Spring 2018 and will now serve as the Executive Vice President. Her duties as Vice President is to assist the Executive President, maintain Alumni Relations, coordinate Community Service events, and help to establish new relationships within the Executive Board by handling the EB Wellness Program. This semester, she hopes to help all of the SHRMies Shine with SHRM and looks forward to making new memories during her last semester as an undergraduate student.




Ryan is a Senior studying Marketing at the Shidler College of Business. This is his third semester in the SHRM Aloha Chapter and first on the executive board. As this semester’s Executive Secretary, his duties include tracking member’s active status, reserving all rooms and venues, and coordinating the semester’s calendar of events for the chapter. He will also circulate sign-in and sign-up sheets at meetings and make copies of available announcements and any other materials for distribution at chapter meetings. One of his goals this semester is to improve the relationships between the members and professionals and looks forward to challenging himself in this new leadership role. Along with the Aloha Chapter, Ryan is a tennis coach and past intern with the United States Tennis Association and was able to work as a Development Intern with Make-A-Wish Foundation this past summer.




Kai Magarifuji will be serving as this semesters Director of Finance and will oversee the revenue and expenses within the organization. He is currently a junior planning to double major in Accounting and Finance. Kai was born and raised on the island of Maui and takes pride in where he comes from. He joined the Aloha Chapter last semester so that he could give back to the community, network with other Shidler College of Business students, and improve as a young professional. He previously served in the United States Marine Corps and this past summer, Kai was able to work as an accounting intern at ES&A Law Corporation. During his free time, he enjoys hanging out with good company and playing sports. This year, he is really looking forward to making many new memories and new friends in SHRM.




Brooklyn is a Senior from Capistrano Beach, California and is majoring in Human Resource Management. This is her second semester in the SHRM Aloha Chapter and first on the Executive Board. As the Director of Corporate Relations, she is responsible for organizing our company tours, coordinating Professional Interaction Night (the chapter’s largest event of the semester), while also maintaining and growing our chapter’s professional network. This semester, her goal is to tailor company tours and PIN to fit our members’ needs and interests and hopes that our SHRMies will take advantage of these opportunities to grow their personal professional networks. She previously worked as a supervisor at Starbucks and is now excited to be serving as a Resident-Assistant this upcoming school-year along with working as an Intern with Hawaii Pacific Health. In her free time, enjoys traveling, hiking, running, going to the beach, and reading.





This semester’s Director of Professional Development will be Lincoln Makizuru. Lincoln is from the island of Kauai and is currently double majoring in Human Resource Management and International Business. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, learning new recipes, binge watching T.V. shows, and singing karaoke. This is his fourth semester in SHRM, and his first semester on the Executive Board. He is looking forward to supporting the Aloha Chapter by planning various professional development workshops, this Fall’s Mock Interview week, and enhancing our SHRMie’s personal, professional, and technical skills while expanding our chapter’s professional network. He is currently working as a Human Resource Intern at The Research Corporation of University of Hawaii and this semester, hopes that our members are able to gain a better understanding of the different aspects in the Human Resource Management field.





Jordan is a junior at the Shidler College of Business majoring in Human Resource Management. This will be his third semester in the SHRM Aloha Chapter and his first on the Executive Board. As the Director of Fundraising, he is in charge of coordinating and executing various fundraising events throughout the semester, including our two semester car washes. Along with the Aloha Chapter, he previously served as a mentor with the Hawaii Undergraduate Initiative Program and worked on-campus with the Health Services office and will now work as a Manoa Peer Advisor at the Manoa Advising Center. During his free time, Jordan likes to binge watch YouTube videos, play music, and spend time with his family and friends. One of his goals this semester is to continue developing his leadership skills and to get to know all of the SHRMies.





Trevor is a Junior majoring in Finance at the Shidler College of Business. He graduated from Mililani High School in 2015, joined the Aloha Chapter last Fall, and previously served as the Spring 2018 Director of Marketing. In his free time he enjoys petting dogs and hanging out with his friends. Along with working on-campus, he will also be this semester’s Director of Student Affairs and is in charge of planning, coordinating, and executing the Aloha Chapter’s recruitment efforts such as tabling, classroom presentations, and our orientation picnic, “SHRM Club Recruitment Ultimate Biannual Social (SCRUBS)”. Along with planning recruitment week, he will also be in charge of planning our various socials and fostering an environment for our SHRMies to have fun and interact with one another. Throughout the semester, he hopes to grow his personal and professional network while helping other SHRM’ies grow their own networks as well.





Ty is a Senior majoring in Marketing and Management. He joined the Aloha Chapter in Spring 2017, and since then, has served on the Executive Board as the Fall 2017 Director of Marketing and Spring 2018 Executive Vice President. As the Director of Marketing, he is in charge of designing marketing materials, planning the end-of-semester banquet, and helping our members market themselves as young professionals. Since this is his second term, he is challenging himself by taking things a step further and has started this by re-designing the entire SHRM website. This past summer, Ty was able to study abroad in Denmark at Copenhagen Business School where he was able to fuel his love of adventure and exploration. Along with SHRM, Ty is also a Manoa Peer Advisor for Shidler College of Business, an Intern for New York Life Insurance & NYLIFE Securities, and a Sales Representative at Ted Baker London. This semester, he is most excited to get back to what he enjoys the most; being creative and giving back to the community.





Dean is currently a Senior majoring in Human Resource Management and has been in the Aloha Chapter for two semesters. He was born on the island of Oahu and raised in the district of Kalihi. In his free time, he enjoys traveling and hiking with his friends and even got to visit Japan and Korea this past Summer break! Along with working as an Assistant Manager at Famous Footwear, this semester, he will be serving as the Director of Public Relations. His duties include; managing sponsorships for the chapter’s largest event for the semester, Professional Interaction Night (PIN), updating the chapter’s website, creating our newsletters and E-magazines, and maintaining our social media accounts. One of his goals this semester is to inform the public and bring awareness of the Aloha Chapter, who we are, what we do, and how we provide opportunities for professional development, networking, outstanding service, teamwork, and lasting friendships.




Christian is currently a Junior majoring in Management at the Shidler College of Business. He graduated from Iolani School in 2016 and joined the SHRM Aloha Chapter during the Spring 2018 semester. Christian will be serving as this semester’s Inter-Business Council (IBC) senator and will be the liaison between our chapter, the IBC and Shidler students and faculty. As our IBC Senator, he is also in charge of maintaining positive relationships between the other clubs and will help the other senators in planning and executing different events such as, Super Clubs Day and Back-to-Business Bowling. His goal for this semester is to maintain the aloha that he felt when joining the chapter this past Spring while contributing to the community as much as possible. Christian also works at the Warrior Recreation Center, but in his free time he enjoys surfing and playing the guitar.





As an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Hawaii at Manoa at the Shidler College of Business, Professor Ghumman teaches courses that focus on organizations, leadership, and international management.

While being an educator, some awards she has received include the University Distinguished Fellowship from Michigan State University, Graduate Student Scholarship from Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Shirley M. Lee Research Award, CIBER Grant, Shidler College Faculty Fellow, Professor of the Semester, and the Shidler College Dennis Ching Excellence in Teaching Award.
